About Us

Girls like computer games too. Sometimes we like the same kinds of games as the boys (and thrash them!), sometimes we like different games. My name is Kimberley and this site brings together all the games that I think us girls will love to play. Girls like pink stuff too. It's so our brothers and Dads can't steal our stuff and claim it as their own. ...more.

.............and this is how long it will take to complete this game. Over the the years I've owned all the Virtua Tennis games on one format or another, and this is my least favourite version. Why? Then read on.

In career mode you start off ranked 100 in the amateurs and have to make your way to number 1. When you reach various rankings, you are allowed to enter into the relevant ranking tournaments. Along the way, you can visit the Tennis Academy and also partake in "mini games" such as Block Breaker. These allow you to build up your skills. The only problem encountered in reaching Amateur Rank 1 was the length of time needed. By competing in (and winning) tournaments in both singles and doubles, generally (but sometimes more) results in you moving up about 4 ranks. When you reach the No. 1 position you enter the professional ranks, starting at 150. And the ranking tournaments process starts all over again. The standard of AI in the amateur ranks is low, and it's almost a formality that you'll reach No.1. However, when you get to the professional ranks, the AI (understandably) steps up a few gears. I found that on Easy mode, doubles is considerably more difficult.

When you win tournaments, mini games etc, you unlock various items like clothing, playing styles and other mini games. And it's these unlockables which has kept me going until now.

The other side to this game is the Arcade Mode where you enter 5 competitions, which, under Easy mode are fine. This then unlocks a secret tournament which sees you play against the legend that is Boris Becker. In doubles mode, your secret tournament opponents are Becker and Stefan Edberg.

Whilst the graphics are detailed, there is a lot of "slow down". In the Arcade Doubles final against Becker and Edberg, I found the slow down so bad, that it virtually made the match unplayable. Similarly, in career mode I found that from the time I played a charity match against one of the Williams sisters, the slow down on that match was ridiculous. In the professional ranks, there are times when your opponent's shot will catch the top of the net. There appears to be slow down between the ball hitting the net and travelling to another part of the court. That said, I am playing this game from the disk and haven't installed it onto the hard drive. This may alleviate the problem.

As it stands right now, I have spent 21 hours playing Virtua Tennis, winning 120 titles, accumulating 748 wins. And I am still ranked 54th in the professional rankings. It took me 4 and a bit seasons to climb from 100 to 1 in the amateur rankings. I'm now in my 12th season and at 54th in the world, am (demoralisingly) a long way off the No. 1. I suspect at least another 15 hours may see me there. But, quite frankly I'm not sure if I want to any more.

I bought this game and it is good fun and there is always something new to do. The career mode is great because you create your own player and live the life of a player. I play Tennis myself and this game is realistic and amazing picture i really say you should buy this game.

1 out of 5 stars Stay away from this game!   July 20, 2009

I wish I had read the reviews before buying this game. It is one of the worst games I've ever played. The game play is extremely boring and repetitive.

As the other reviews have pointed out, you can't seem to hit the ball out or into the net. Meaning every shot you hit goes in, the computer AI is some of the worst I've ever seen. I worked out within the first 5 minutes that the trick is just to hit the ball back in the direction it came from. The computer controlled player automatically runs to the other side of the court once he has hit his shot. As a result I win all my games without conceding a point!!

So I said to myself, well I'll just change the difficulty setting to make it more of a challenge, THERE IS NO DIFFICULTY SETTING!!!! So it's mind numbly boring due to it's repetitive nature. Do yourself a favor and stay well away from this garbage!

3 out of 5 stars At firts its good, after a while its not   July 20, 2009

I eagerly anticipated this game, I had VT3 on my PSP, and I really enjoyed it.

At first it was very good and quite enjoyable and exciting, the world tour started off good, as an amutuar, but when you turn pro it takes soo long to get up the rankings and becomes very fustrating and boring.

The online play is OK but when you hit it you see the ball stop in the other half of the court which is very weird.

Overall its a decent game, a bit like Tim Henman, good to start off with, but we expected soo much more!
